CRIME WATCH
Full Description:
The Westfield Police Department currently has many neighborhoods involved in the Neighborhood Crime Watch program. The overall goal of the program is to establish lines of communication between the citizens of Westfield and members of the police department. Once these lines of communication are established, residents feel more comfortable calling the police department with questions or concerns, or to report possible criminal activity.
When requested, Westfield Police Officers attend neighborhood association meetings and share crime statistics for the neighborhood. At the meetings, officers pass on information about reporting suspicious activities, the different types of suspicious activities to observe for, and the types of question a dispatcher will ask when a citizen calls the police. Additionally, the Westfield Police Department will provide Neighborhood Crime Watch street signs for any neighborhood that would like to have them posted.
