News Details (Posted: January 2, 2007):

ROBEY TO LEAD WESTFIELD CHAMBER

Full Description:

Lifelong Westfield resident Bob Robey will lead the Westfield Washington Chamber of Commerce this year.

Robey, 55, has been appointed president of the chamber board of directors. He replaces John Kerr, who has served in that position since 2003.

A 1969 graduate of Westfield High School, Robey works at Century 21 Realty Group-McCoun and is part of the Robey Team. Others on the team are his mother, brother and wife, Jean, Roy and Connie.

Robey said the chamber's goals for this year include continuing to promote economic development, while enhancing the community's educational, recreational, spiritual and cultural development.

"We want to be active in all aspects of community life," he said.

Under his watch, the 25-year-old chamber will continue to organize upbeat and community-oriented monthly luncheons and the annual Community Night, and help community organizations such as Amanda Strong Food for the Needy. The chamber also is working to tie its Web site with the town's site to give businesses and visitors more resources, Robey said.

Tom Dooley, who will succeed Robey as board vice president, said Robey will be an outstanding president.

"He knows the community very well and his personality will continue to help the chamber grow," Dooley said.

Robey has been a member of the executive board since 2004 and he served on it in the 1990s. As a chamber officer, he explained, he's been active in many parts of the chamber including the Economic Development Committee and the annual golf outing. But as president he will get a report on all committees and happenings within the chamber.

Also serving on the chamber board are Duane Lutz, treasurer, and Eric Lohe, secretary. Julie Sole is the chamber's executive director, overseeing daily activities.
